As people who enjoy the outdoors and all it has to offer, we want to do our best to keep it pristine. That’s why we’re taking steps to make our products more sustainable. Keep reading for more information on our sustainably-made swim trunks, women’s surf shorts, bikinis, wetsuits and more.
When it comes to making wetsuits, we’ve really cleaned up our act. Instead of petrochemicals, we’re using earth-mined limestone in our neoprene. Neoprene is also made with an ingredient called carbon black, and by using recycled tires to make ours, we’re reducing CO2 emissions by 200 grams per wetsuit. And when it comes to our liners and stretch tapes, we use a process that reduces energy and water consumption, which also helps avoid excess water pollution.
Our boardshorts are made using recycled P.E.T. plastic bottles, effectively giving them new life beyond the landfill — and making for some very comfortable trunks, might we add. Likewise, our bikinis don’t just look good, they do good, too. By using recycled nylon to make most of our styles, we’re reducing our reliance on natural resources and extending the lifecycle of existing ones.
Beyond product, no Hurley event would be complete without a beach clean up. Keeping our favorite place clean and trash-free is not just something we feel a duty to do, but something we truly enjoy. The ocean gives so much, we’re happy to give as much back as we can.
This is just the beginning of an even better, more sustainable Hurley — and we can’t wait to show you where we go from here.
