On August 14th, a swathe of Outer Banks luminaries led by longtime stylist Mark Slagle and Autism Society of North Carolina Outer Banks Chapter President Eileen Lowery broke ground at Jennette’s Pier with the area’s inaugural Surfing For Autism event, stressing the importance of early intervention, parental support, and the latest research concerning Autism and Asperger’s before giving kids their first paddling/ standing lessons and pushing them into waves. While head-high groundswell proved challenging for the first-timers, a skilled and caring local cast including Lynn Shell and Jason Forrest, Pete Erickson, Noah Snyder, Tom Rogers, Bobby Holland, Sr., Kim Diggs, and Whitney Hines kept things safe in the shorebreak. We find a fourth Indo Dream Trip winner at the Rip My Shred Stick/Ron Jon Surf Shop event in Cocoa Beach. Photos and Video: PK
A week before Saturday's Rip My Shred Stick event at Cocoa Beach, Stephan Baker was at Ron Jon Surf Shop, looking to upgrade a pair of his original Phantoms for the Flywire trunks. The store manager was kind enough to tell him about the event and that he was better off waiting for a week. "Best decision I ever made," said the Cocoa Beach surfer.
Because now, he is the fourth surfer to be added to our coveted list of Indo Dream Trip winners. "I can't believe this just happened," he said.
Baker will be bringing his girlfriend along to the late October trip to Kandui Resort and you can bet he'll be ready to split peaks with Rob and the Hurley team. Four down, just one to go for our Indo Dream Trip Sweepstakes. Stay tuned to www.hurley.com/upgrade for updates on the location/date of our final event.
In addition to the Dream Trip giveaway, Hurley held its third Rip My Shred Stick event of the tour in conjunction with Ron Jon Surf Shop. Check the photos. As you can see, smiles were infectious.
FCA MIDDLE SCHOOLERS MEET BEFORE CLASS TO BE ENCOURAGED BY NOAH SNYDER
Fellowship of christian Athletes , and Cliff Jenkins hosted 95 plus kids for a FCA event ! I got asked to be the guest speaker for the morning ,and boy was i in for a treat ! The kids were all so pumped on the morning !!!! I mean when is the last time you could get almost 100 kids to meet before school at 7:45 in the am. Needless to say the kids gave me their attention for a short Q&A , and encouraging word. Then it was Hurley time !!!! Stickers and lanyards went the distance for all that came out ! These guys were awesome ! Till next time - Always Believe !!!

Noah Snyder tells a story at Nags Head Elementary
On March 2, “Read Across America Day” hit the schools , and all the kids got the chance to learn just a little bit more. Dr. Seuss stated that “The more that you read, the more you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”
Myself, and a handful of other guest readers had the chance to come in to share about our occupations, and take some time to read to the kids! After our time with the kids it was the parents' turn to read a final book before the awards, and snack time. The kids were awesome , and they soaked up every word spoken. Special thanks to Nags Head Elementary School for hosting such a killer event, and letting the community pour into the next generation of Kiddos. Get your READ on! —Noah
It's time for school as the FCA Class get a Snyder teaching.
Did you ever have fun in school like this ? Well, I got the chance to come in and encourage the FCA class , and get lit up in dodge ball in one session. The kids were pumped to say the least -- they had so much energy it was crazy! I took a few moments with the kids to talk about life, faith ,and surfing! I gave them a little preview of some surf footage that was filmed with a GoPro camera. Needless to say they were glued to the screen , but as soon as the movie was over they had one thing on their minds . Hey, Snyder can you dodge a wrench ???? Dodge ball was on , and yes i got lit up a few times. At the end of it all I rewarded the kids with the ultimate sticker toss . Check photos for all the action . — Noah Snyder
