It was a banner day for Team Hurley at Lowers on Monday, as Evan Geiselman and 11-year-old Jake Marshall won their respective divisions in the country's most important amateur surf contest. Continuing on his stellar run of contest victories, Geiselman found his biggest challenge yet in the form of Kolohe Andino. The two went blow for blow, air reverse for air reverse, as Evan went left and Kolohe went right. But in the end, it was Evan's huge blowtail to reverse on a bigger set that gave him the nod. Evan Geiselman is the first official Surfing America USA Champ out of Lowers and will undoubtedly carry the momentum on the US Team.
In the Under 12 division, Seaside local Jake Marshall capitalized on some solid double overhead rights (on him) and squeaked out a win over fellow Hurley rider Kaulana Apo. Both surfers are destined to be future leaders -- keep an eye on them.
Congrats to Evan, Jake and Kaulana. Check the video highlights here.

We just got back from Kauai last night. We flew over for the NSSA at PK’s on the south shore. Waves were pumping as there was a solid out of season southswell.
It was a great weekend for the Hurley Boys. First off Elijah gates got his first win of the season. He took out the explorer menehune division. Elijah was on fire Sunday collecting huge scores all the way to his victory. Elijah also got a 5th place on Saturday in the Open Boys.
Fellow Hurley riders Kaulana Apo and Kalen Galtes also made two finals. Kaulana got 4thplace in the open boys and 6th place in the Explorer menehune, and Kalen got a 6th place in the Open Juniors, and 3rd place finish in the explorer boys. Congrats and thanks to the boys for their hard work this weekend. Until next time.
Aloha, Joel
Kaulana surfed a perfect event yesterday at Straight Outs in Town. Waves were in the 2-3 foot range. He ripped his way to the finals by winning every heat and posting massive scores. Kaulana has been on a great run the last few months taking 2nd place at the NSSA Nationals, winning the Rip Curl Grom Search, and now this HSA Event. Keep up the great work and CONGRATULATIONS Kaulana!!
Aloha, Joel Centeio
