PK, the unofficial official RMSS comissioner, reports from France: Anglet has some of the most beautiful beaches in Europe and maybe the most stoked groms in the world! We got to enjoy a perfect day under sunny skies and in blue water...yes, some fun waves too. Merci Beacoup a les groms pour l'incredible fait du surf et le tres bonne 'shredding'! Machado and Pat' O continue to inspire and set the tone for future generations of young rippers! Click through for highlights from Anglet, France. Photos: PK.
Rip My Shred Stick made European landfall yesterday in San Sebastian, Spain. And though it might not have been as heavily anticipated a debut as other American exports, like say, McDonald's and Starbucks, who've found a second home across the Atlantic, we think Rip My Shred made a good first impression. PK, the unofficial official RMSS comissioner, reported that even though it was a different continent, it was the same story in the end: Kids had fun (see the picture to the left for proof). After taking the U.S. by storm, Hurley’s Rip My Shred Stick Tour will head over to the other side of the pond for three stops in Europe. Led by Pat O’Connell and Rob Machado (is it '94 again!) the tour will be stopping in Spain and France over the next few days. Two things sure to happen: big smiles and lots of high fives! Stay tuned for updates. Event info here.
Every Santa Monica grom that wasn't stuck in 405 Carmageddon or watching the new Harry Potter movie – which ended up being about 20 kids – was at the beach this morning for Hurley's second to last stop of the RMSS Tour. The streak of improving waves has finally come to an end. But don't you worry, today's surfing performances more than made up for the slight decrease in wave size. There was an abundance of above the lip surfing along with pure, entertaining goofball maneuvers. Click into the story for full highlights and photos from RMSS Mission Beach. Photos/video: PK.
Today was a day for the Rip My Shred Stick history books. A pumping six-to-eight foot swell kept competitors on their toes and also in tip top shape. Along with the plenty of paddling and closeout sets on the head, there were some crazy, memorable rides that went down at 9th Street in H.B. Big waves, a sweeping current and the menacing pilings of the Manhattan Beach Pier weren't enough to keep the kids out of the water yesterday at the 14th stop of the Rip My Shred Stick Tour. Everyone from first-time surfers to red hot rippers battled the current and pumping South swell all day and ended up going home with big smiles on their faces. The RMSS Tour just stopped in beautiful Pismo Beach, CA. The best waves we've seen thus far greeted the 50 groms on the South side of the Pismo Pier. And yes, we know we keep claiming the waves get better at every stop, but we swear it has really been the case. No joke. We've gone all the way from toe-to-ankle high Deerfield Beach, FL to rippable head-high peaks here in Pismo. And if this trend keeps up it looks like we'll be finishing up next week in Oceanside with some grinding double overhead barrels. But don't worry, we're sure the mini groms will still be ready to show up and charge when that happens. Click into the story for full highlights and photos from RMSS Pismo Beach. Photos/video: PK.
The Rip My Shred Stick Tour, led by Captain Phantom and his trusty sidekick Jorge, has travelled 10,000 miles throughout the country and has officially landed in (the unofficial) Surf City USA – Santa Cruz, CA. This morning's event at 26th Ave was graced with the best waves of the tour thus far. We saw everything from kids busting superman airs to black labradors taking down groms brave enough to charge the inside shorebreak. Click into the story for full highlights and photos. Hurley's Rip My Shred Stick stop #11 went down this past Thursday in Grand Haven, Michigan. We were greeted to beautiful sunny skies, light offshore winds, and a calm flat lake. But that didn't seem to bother the 70-plus youngsters who showed up to demonstrate their skills and hang with Hurley pro's Timmy Curran and Dane Zaun.
