Hurley moto rider Ivan Tedesco finished third this past weekend at the San Diego Supercross. Here's a short interview with Tedesco a week before the event, along with a play-by-play and a gallery from his big result. Photos: Patrick Gorman

Hurley moto rider Ivan Tedesco is in the hunt. After a moderate start to this year's Supercross season, he hit the throttle in San Diego, finishing second in Heat One and third in the main event behind David Millsaps and Joshua Hill.

Here's some play-by-play from Hurley's Pit Crew member, Patrick Gorman:

HEAT ONE:
"Heat 1 was intense to say the least. With Ivan placing 7th in San Francisco one week earlier, he was here for redemption. Getting a great start off the line, he was up in the top four riders by the second turn. From there he quickly moved up into 2nd after a few laps. As the short heat race was coming down to the last lap, # 18 David Millsaps made a remarkable pass 2 turns before the finish-line double. Tedesco quickly attacked back with an incredible chase to the last turn before the finish-line where he block-passed Millsaps, and reclaimed his 2nd place standing."

MAIN EVENT:
"The Main event is all about the best of the best riders battling it out for a podium position and gaining the extra season points to propel them ever so closer to the #1 position in the 2010 AMA Supercross season. Tedesco again got a great start and was looking smooth throughout each section of the race. With a crash from Andrew Short , Josh hill was able to to move into 3rd place behind Ivan Tedesco. With just two laps left, Hill made his move and passed Ivan Tedesco. From there it was a close battle to the end, where Ivan Tedesco held onto the 3rd place position over Ryan Villopoto. Tedesco now stands in 5th place overall in the season points lead..... which is a great jump from his previous position of 7th, only a week ago in San Francisco. Tedesco is looking great this season and we still have 12 more races to go."

On the podium, Tedesco clearly was ready for more. “To get up on the box you gotta push the envelope, and I got squirrelly a few times out there,” he said. “Luckily I didn’t go down, and I ended up on the podium. I’m stoked to be up here. It’s definitely better than the last few weeks. Hopefully, I can get some momentum off this.”
