Rob Machado is at it again and back to school just in time for Laguna Beach High School's homecoming. He kicked off their annual assembly with some pretty epic tarp surfing alongside members of the new LBHS H2O club for the second Hydration Nation event. The kids capitalized on the foot traffic to the homecoming dance ticket booth, and used it as a place to sell water bottles and raise awareness (Rob signing autographs didn't hurt, either). And of course, just like at San Dieguito Academy, we unveiled some brand new water fountains. We’ll be letting you know how you can bring Hydration Nation to your school soon, so stay tuned and, most importantly, stay hydrated! Click through for more photos from our day at LBHS!
A few of our Hurley co-workers just finished up a pretty awesome "work" week. They were at the 8th annual Active Ride Shop Willabong event, which went down in Cardiff, San Diego, for the past three days. The event opened up with a Hurley surf day and a Rob Machado ping pong tourney before ending with a team format surf contest, where the Hurley squad of PK, Punker Pat, Nick Kovack and Phil Bannan took second place behind Spy. At least we can suppress our jealousy with a little bit of pride. Click "full story" to check out the photo highlights. Photos: PK

Galveston and Ohana Surf & Skate hosted us for the second Texas stop of the Rip My Shred Stick 2012 Summer Tour. A small, little windswell at the Galveston Pier provided the perfect opportunity for the 75 stoked kids to practice their longboarding and reach into their creative bag of tricks. With the help of Rob Machado, Pat O'Connell, Noah Snyder and Zach "Hula" Hartley, many kids stood up and surfed the first waves of their lives. And with those first-ever rides it's safe to say a new daily record of smiles and high fives has officially been set. A big thanks goes out to William "Boog" Cram and the crew at Ohana Surf & Skate for all their help in making this such a great event. One hundred of Corpus Christi's finest young surfers met up with us this morning at the Bob Hall Pier for the second stop of the Rip My Shred Stick 2012 Summer Tour. Everyone from first-time six-year-olds to 16-year-old rippers were taking it to the playful 1-3 foot windswell. The judges had their hands full as the group of youngsters mixed it up with headstands, front-flip dismounts, meditation poses into the shorebreak and some good ol' fashioned Texan cutbacks. In the end it was Devin Delagarza who took home the win with a combination of nose-riding and progressively fun maneuvers. A big thanks goes out to Benjamin's, Julie Doyle, Allen Byas and everyone else from the Corpus Christi community for your help in making this event one to remember.
