Things have kicked into high gear Down Under at the Australian Open of Surfing. Manly has been providing surfers with fun waves, the beach bowl has been going off and the )(2O booth is teaching the world to be water wise. So far out in the surf, Conner Coffin and Michael Dunphy advanced through to the Round of 96, where they'll join Cooper Chapman (above), Evan Geiselman, Miguel Pupo, Ace Buchan and Mitch Crews for some more action. Tune in LIVE at australianopenofsurfing.com to watch it all go down.
Cooper took a few days off from his global travel schedule to sneak in a few fun waves around home. He soaked it all in, enjoyed his time at home (while it lasted) and then jumped right back on the horse, finishing in the quarters at the Bells junior comp. Pretty good start to 2012 for the young Aussie! Watch the video over at cooperandbeau.com.
Cooper just won the Billabong Pro Junior Asia, the first event of the 2011/2012 season. The young Australian showed his versatility, surfing well in conditions that ranged from perfect barrels on the first day to less-than-ideal ramps on the final day, as he took down an international field en route to the win. Be sure to keep an eye on this kid the next few months. Click through for highlights and full coverage of the event.
Hurley's favorite Junior Aussies have been staying busy. Cooper Chapman recently went in search of waves on the Gold Coast and found some fun little beachies. And Beau Foster just went for his first surf at home in six weeks, having just returned from a California vacation. Watch Cooper's Golden coast road trip here and Beau's hometown sesh here.
