We're not shy about stealing some looks from the guys, and while the Ace Oxford looks great on our boyfriends as is, we thought it could use some adjustments if it wanted to fit into our closet! So read on to see how after some dye, some snips here and there and a few patches and pins, the Ace Oxford can go from your boyfriend's Sunday best to your favorite go-to vest. Our advice: throw it on over a hoodie and some skinny jeans or use it to toughen up a girly dress. Bonus points if you add studs!

What you'll need: an Ace Oxford, Rit dye in Denim Blue color, and patches of your choosing for flair — we prefer these Patch It Up! appliques because they're inexpensive, easy to use and there are tons to choose from.

We found all our supplies at Michaels — one of our favorite craft stores, not least because it smells so good in there!

Start by cutting the sleeves off. Tip: cut on the outside of the seam to leave some material to fray ;)

Embrace the fray, it keeps it more authentic.

Then have some fun with the RIT dye and hang it up to dry for a while.

All dry? Continue on to the next step.

Apply appliques (that's fun to say) in the area of your choosing. These Patch It Up! designs stuck out to us because they have that 90s flair we've been gravitating towards as of late. Cue some Nirvana, please.

We added this pin from ST1NK and a Misfits pin we got at a swap meet in high school.

Oh, and then we stuck this on the back because we were feeling a little bedazzly.

Once you're satisfied with your amount of flair, throw it on with your favorite outfit and no one will be any the wiser.

We chose the Solid Zip Hoodie in maroon because it makes the vest pop. But see it in other colors here.

Let's hear it one more time for that fray! So good.
