"We're really pleased with the turn out today in Chambre D'amour" said Allen Johnson, General Manager of Hurley Europe. "This event is designed so young kids can have lots of fun catching waves alongside some of our most iconic team riders. I can't express how much we love spending quality time with these kids and it's truly an inspiration to see how they perform and engage with Rob".
American former professional Rob Machado is one of the world's most popular and respected surfers recently landed in Europe especially for this tour. "Ever since it's conception a few years ago, I have been a involved in a lot of Rip My Shred Stick events and I just love them" Rob explained. "The initial idea was to offer kids the opportunity to ride our own boards but it's evolved into a day-long event where we see the groms pushing their limits. It's great to watch!" Rob added with a glowing smile.
With prizes for all comers including Hurley gear as well as a raffle for a Go Pro Camera, it was a great day that included amazing soft top performances by Rob, paddle races and a renown PK slide-show session at Waimea Surf Shop. Former Pipe-Master Robbie Paige and Hossegor charger Didier Piter were also on hand, bringing their boys down to enjoy the action. Top shedders were Quentin Grenard-under 16, Florian Grenard-under 14, Mateo Clemente-under 12 and Girls winner Lea Dezes. Stay tuned for Stop 2 from the picturesque Basque town of Zarautz.
