The first of 30 stops for the Rip My Shred Stick 2012 Summer Tour kicked off this past weekend at Jobos, Isabella, Puerto Rico. Playa Jobos delivered with playful waist high sets and a perfect beach for the 70 kids that showed up. It was a full day of fun competition that included 23 heats, a paddle race, product toss, free pizza and so much more. Brian Toth and Michael Dunphy were out in the water giving plenty of help and tips to all the kids. Read on for the full scoop and photo highlights from the day and for the recap video, go here. When it came down to the end there were 6 finalists left with Steven Hill winning the event. Here are the finalist’s results:

1.Steven Hill

2.Christian Castillo

3.Juan Gonzalez

4.Jorge Martinez

5.Sage Katz

6.Josuel Valentin

The paddle race was a new idea that we came up with. The winner was awarded with a $400 dollar HD GoPro camera. It was one of the coolest things to go down of the day as 30 kids battled it out. It came down to a tight finish with 4 kids making it to the finish line in almost the same time. Gabriela Rubi ended up getting 1st place finish which was awesome for a girl to take out everyone.

Thanks to everyone in Puerto Rico for making this event happen. Big thanks to the Puerto Rico Surfing Federation, The Palmas Beach club for the amazing Venue, Pito on the mic for keeping us entertained, Brian Toth for helping organize everything, Mundo Rad for capturing all the photos and video, and Malta drinks for quenching everyone’s thirst. Thanks to our sponsors for the free giveaways to the kids. They were so stoked! Spy Optics, Stance Socks, Futures Fins, GoPro, Mophie and Freestyle Watches.

The champ, Steven Hill.
