Our good friend, Davey Warsop of Suedehead, checks in after weekend one of Coachella. Read on for the scoop…
Davey:
2012 was my first ever year at Coachella. Having been to several festivals as a punter and also performer, I was kind of preparing myself for "just another festival". As soon as I got there, I realized that purely by the location of Coachella, it really is different. The huge mountains and palm trees were an epic landscape to look across as we were playing.
The Suedehead set went great, we opened the outdoor theater stage on saturday. For a set so early in the day we had a great crowd — everybody was cheering and dancing. This was literally my first experience of Coachella (since we had arrived so late the night before) and I'll never forget how positive it was!! Straight away I was stoked!!
After playing we loaded gear back in our trailer, did press and interviews for a few hours and then managed to walk across the site in search of food. By this time, Squeeze were playing — a band I have loved since I was a kid. They exceeded all my already high expectations. Sadly this was the only band I got to see after such a busy day... but, hey, there's always next weekend. Here's to fIREHOSE and Noel Gallagher!!!
