Every Santa Monica grom that wasn't stuck in 405 Carmageddon or watching the new Harry Potter movie – which ended up being about 20 kids – was at the beach this morning for Hurley's second to last stop of the RMSS Tour. There was a lot great surfing that went down, which featured some never-before-seen moves. The waves on offer were two-to-three foot, fun, peaky and perfect for the competitors to showcase their talents and creativity for the judges.
Bunker King completed the first ever triple board ride of the RMSS Tour, surfing on top of three soft tops before getting smashed on the inside. It was a site we will not soon forget. Also getting in on the action was mini-grom Beck Adler, who road wave after wave all the way to the sand with a style rivaling that of Rob Machado. And then there was Matthew Bull, who showed no mercy as he ran over anything and anyone in his path. It was a very entertaining day.
In the end, it was Beck Adler who took home the win. With the help of Timmy Curran, Beck caught some amazing rides and was able to hold off the other five, talented finalists. He was rewarded with a first place finish and a new HD GoPro camera.
Following the surf contest, the event moved up the street to ZJ's Boarding House where everyone was treated to the day's highlight video, free food from Daphne's California Cuisine, and the Phantom Truck's customization station. Thanks to Daphne's for the amazing food, Vita Coco Coconut Water and the Vita Coco girls at the beach for keeping everyone hydrated, and everyone else who made it to the event for putting together yet another successful stop. Check out further coverage of today's event at the Santa Monica Mirror here.
Stay tuned as RMSS Tour's next stop is with the Marines and their families tomorrow at Camp Pendleton.
