Interviewing the winning teams as they prepare for the big show in Huntington Beach

Lincoln is pumped and ready to deliver another knockout performance. With two wins under their belt, Lincoln has the experience and drive needed to come out on top at this year’s WTW National Championships. Lincoln promises that this year’s performance will be their best and loudest one yet. We caught up with Lincoln student Charnae Dickson to get a sneak peek of what Lincoln is up to this time around.—Chloe Barton

HURLEY.COM: WHAT IS YOUR POSISTION ON THE TEAM?
CHARNAE DICKSON: Debby and I are project managers so we oversee the entire production. We are not modeling in the show so we can focus all of our efforts on making sure that everything is getting done and going along smoothly.

YOUR SCHOOL HAS PARTICIPATED IN TWO OTHER WTW EVENTS. WERE YOU INVOLVED WITH EITHER OF THOSE PRODUCTIONS?
This is actually my first time doing WTW. A lot of our models have done WTW before but I would say that we are pretty much a new team. It helps having some students who have done it before because they have experience, but it also helps having new students because they bring new ideas and a fresh perspective.

YOU’VE GOT SOME BIG SHOES TO FILL. YOUR SCHOOL’S WINNING PERFORMANCE FROM LAST YEAR WAS PRETTY CRAZY.
I know! Last summer, I came up from San Diego to watch our school perform in the West Coast Championship and I had so much fun. Everyone from Lincoln was wearing green shirts, holding green foam fingers and cheering super loud. I think that our section really stood out in the crowd. There were so many people and the energy was great. I am really excited to be involved this year, and hopefully bring home another win.

WHAT HAVE YOU GUYS BEEN DOING TO PREPARE SO FAR?
Well, we have talked about what music we want to use and decided on a final theme. So far, most of our practice time has been devoted to working on our opening. We have already had a ton of practices! We are now trying to figure out what we should work on next.

HOW ARE YOU GUYS GOING TO RAISE THE BAR THIS YEAR?
Well, last year we stood out because we really communicated our story line to the audience. We think that all of the schools will have a story line this time around so we are focusing on making our story line the best. We are going to make our message the loudest and make sure that the audience remembers our performance at the end of the day.

AWESOME. WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR FAVORITE PART OF THIS EXPERIENCE?
Watching our opening come together has been so exciting because it has turned out so great. I like seeing that all of our hard work is paying off.

WHY IS LINCOLN GOING TO WIN YET AGAIN?
We are going to win because we are going to make a really big statement that people will not be able to forget.
