In between traveling, skating bowls and surfing, Keegan loves spending time on his vert ramp where he can just zone out and perfect new tricks like his cab 720 — ya know, just your average 10-year-old stuff... We kid, there's nothing average about anything in this video. Press play.
Red Bull's 21Days series chronicles the 21 days leading up to a World Tour event: all the training, traveling and free surfs. In the series leading up to the Billabong Rio Pro, Nat Young, the California rookie (who has found himself on quite a roll), was featured alongside Adriano DeSouza, the Brazilian who snatched the coveted Bells trophy from Nat. Through the three episodes it is easy to gather that Nat has an intense drive… a drive that led him to Tahiti in the final installment. Not a bad place to practice. Added bonus: some behind the scenes footage of Miggy, Alejo and Diego Silva's time with Adriano in the Mentawais. Catch all the episodes of 21Days here. Photo: Surfline/Billy Watts.
San Diego definitely knows how to have a good time, and the first Rip My Shred Stick stop of 2013 was proof of that! Almost a hundred kids came down to Mission Beach and Sun Diego Boardshop and set a great standard for the rest of the tour. Click 'Full Story' for details.
Through The Lens is the latest film project from Rob Machado. It's life - as only Rob sees it. This first installment features SF-based artist Jay Nelson, who specializes in high-qulaity and high-functioning tree houses and camper shells (check out some of his work, it's incredible). Jay and Rob talk DIY, connecting to art, beauty in the imperfections; they give Rob's van a killer facelift - and of course, go catch a few out front at Cardiff Reef. Stay tuned for more Through The Lens episodes coming this summer.
And now for the third and final song from Polar Bear Club; a sweet little live recording of Screams In Caves from their album Clash Battle Guilt Pride, out now on Bridge Nine records. The boys are currently wrapping up their US tour with Bad Religion (previous Hurley studios visitors).
This time, the Monthly Throw Up is brought to you by our friends Chris Lim and Steve Pillai, two thirds of the talent behind CHEAPZINE (the other third, Spenser, was busy partying like a champ in far off lands) to come in and paint our wall. They’ve been painting Hurley murals with us for a while now, and we couldn’t wait to see them do their own thing with unbridled abandon. Check out the clip above to see what happened when paint met canvas then click through for a raucous interview with Chris and Steve. Visit cheapzine.tumblr.com or visit the dudes at an indie print or zine fest near you!
The 6th Annual Pacific Wave “Spring Fling” presented by Hurley (hey, that's us!) went down this past Saturday at Steamer Lane in Santa Cruz, CA. The morning started off a little gloomy with a low tide, but mid morning gave way to sunshine and clean conditions with waves in the 2-4 ft range. Good times in one of our favorite surf towns! Alejo Muniz and Filipe Toledo doing their thing (surfing really well) all over Australia. Press play, get happy, go surf. Life is simple sometimes.
Hurley Nights at the Observatory in Santa Ana kicked off last night with one of our favorites, Alkaline Trio. Click through for pics and stay tuned for more music nights from us.
