LA-based, musically-inclined (very inclined), foursome, and US Open of Surfing openers, White Arrows are taking their act to the road. They've been said to possess a "strange magic, it's hard not to picture a mystic dance floor hidden in the midst of a tropical rainforest" (source: their ReverbNation page). So if that sounds like your cup of tea (sounds like fun to us), click through to see when the White Arrows tour is coming to your town. Get ready to dance.

Look up. That's what Erik Roner's view of the US Open of Surfing looked like this summer. In fact, Roner's view is more often than not a bird's eye perspective of things. Basically, he really likes jumping out of things, a lot. In the latest installment, Erik revisits his US Open helicopter jump with Burnquist and Escamilla, races a light weight truck for the first time, and like always, shows his son Oskar the finer things in life — this time extreme tubing. Infuse your afternoon YouTube perusal with Erik Roner's latest edit here.

This year at the US Open of Surfing, local boys, Hindu Pirates opened the stage for the likes of Grouplove and White Arrows on Hurley's music night. Local photographer and a good friend of theirs, Jack Belli was there to document the band's big day. From writing a set list all the way to packing up the stage post performance, Belli got it all. We think they're really cool photos and wanted to share them with you. Read through to check them out and go to his blog to see more. Photo: Jack Belli

The surf might be over, the jerseys dry, the trophies on the mantle pieces and the US Open of Surfing mostly done and over with – but the art created on the Art Wall at the US Open of Surfing will continue to live on. Everyday we've been giving out pieces of the wall printed onto Hurley boardshorts and Converse shoes – and today we've upped the anty. The winners selected from todays Art Wall posts will win an actual chunk of the canvas, how cool is that! This video takes a look at the latter half of the collaborative creation, we like to call the art wall. It's fun, creative and inspiring art that will be living on beyond the US Open. To see the art wall come to life, watch Part 1 and Part 1.5 too! All videos: YB

Another year has come and gone and it's safe to say we're pleasantly exhausted. Nine days filled with dust clouds, exciting surfing, waterpledging, concerts, skating, art and so much more. It's hard to pin point the best things about the US Open, but we do know that it's our favorite time of year. Capping off the competition in the water was an edge-of-your-seat final with Miguel Pupo vs Julian Wilson. Sadly, Miguel lost, but not without a fight it was either surfer's game right up until the end. With record-breaking crowds, all the surfer's showed up to compete and win. Concerts from the likes of Best Coast, Grouplove and TV on the Radio served as the soundtrack of the beach for not one, but three full nights of music. Movies premiered, concerts were played, art was created and champions were crowned (congrats to Conner for winning the Men's Junior Pro and Miguel for making it to the final). And that's a wrap on your US Open of Surfing 2012. Until next year.

We're not ones to pick favorites, but we might need to change our tune, because yesterday was our favorite day (so far) down here at the US Open of Surfing. After a day of Juniors, Men's, Women's and Longboarding there was really no other way to top off the day than a free concert, literally steps from the water. Hindu Pirates, White Arrows and GROUPLOVE all provided a great soundtrack to the day and one that we'll be replaying in our headphones for a while. If you missed it, or just want to relive it, press play on this video and get happy. Video: YB

The US Open of Surfing is a celebration of not just surf, skate, music and beach culture — but it's also a time and place to celebrate art. Because it would be silly to deny the relationship our sport has to the art realm. Take a look under most surfer's boards and you'll see some sort of doodle, and then take a look at the US Open of Surfing art wall today and you'll see a hover boarding hamburger. So you see? The two go hand in hand. Because hover boarding is pretty similar to skating (just go with us on this one). So to celebrate that symbiotic relationship, we're bringing a new artist to the art wall every day and letting them have at it with their paint strokes and mad genius. This video takes a look back at the first three days of what is sure to be another great year at the US Open of Surfing. Press play if you're so inclined.

When the webcast flip got switched on, so did the surfing — especially for team Hurley. Here's the rundown: in his first heat back since his ankle injury, Evan Geiselman got first. Miguel Pupo also took first after a nice, high scoring heat — 18.07 to be exact. Last year's runner up, Yadin Nicol looked relaxed as he secured a second place finish in his Round 1 heat. And not to be outdone by all of the above, Mitch Crews put on a show, surfing incredibly and winning his heat with a 16.70 heat score. There were some upsets though as Ace Buchan was eked out early, along with last minute Men's alternate Conner Coffin. But by the looks of things today, it's going to be a great week south of the pier. Join us online tomorrow at usopenofsurfing.com/live.

Day two at the US Open of Surfing was another banger. The sun beat out the marine layer, Michael Dunphy was a stand out surfer and the art wall got another layer of paint on it; this time courtesy of the guys from animation production company, Titmouse. Looks pretty good, no? If you're down at the beach just snap a photo for the chance to have art from the day printed onto limited edition Converse and Hurley boardshorts. Just use the hashtag #usopenofsurf. See you on the sand!

The 2012 US Open of Surfing has begun. In fact, we're writing this to you from the beach. Like, computers, internet, desks — the whole kit and caboodle down here on the sand. But that's just the boring stuff. What you really should know is that about 200 yards from where we are now, the world's best surfers are working their way through the initial rounds in fun, waist-high surf, thousands of people are pledging to be water activists at the new and improved H2O booth and a winding line is going into the brand experience where tons of people are designing their own Phantom Create boardshorts (and hoping that you'll vote on them and help them win their pair — do that here). If you're in California (or the surrounding states or can afford a plane ticket, like hitch hiking and/or long distance walks, etc…) we advise you get down here for all the fun. But if you won't be joining us, feel free to keep up on all goings on on any or all of these channels: Facebook.com/hurley, Instagram (@hurley_clothing and @hurley_girls), Twitter (@hurley and @hurley_girls), Pinterest and of course right here on the blog.
