This year’s Hurley Pro – held at Lower Trestles on September 15th – will continue to showcase the world’s best surfers at the world’s most high-performance wave. But for the first time ever, we’re giving one of our coveted wildcard spots to you, as the 36th seed will be determined by a popular vote based on video submissions.

Here’s how it works: from May 15 to July 15, we will accept video submissions from any and every American surfer with dreams of surfing in the Hurley Pro. Our judging panel will review all submissions and then rank the top 16 candidates. From there, we will place the top 16 in a man-on-man contest bracket. Starting July 29th, we leave the voting up to you. A true People’s Choice.

So, prepare your clips or get ready to click. Either way, you’ll be part of history by choosing the first ASP World Tour wildcard surfer based entirely on popular vote.

Red Bull's 21Days series chronicles the 21 days leading up to a World Tour event: all the training, traveling and free surfs. In the series leading up to the Billabong Rio Pro, Nat Young, the California rookie (who has found himself on quite a roll), was featured alongside Adriano DeSouza, the Brazilian who snatched the coveted Bells trophy from Nat. Through the three episodes it is easy to gather that Nat has an intense drive… a drive that led him to Tahiti in the final installment. Not a bad place to practice. San Diego definitely knows how to have a good time, and the first Rip My Shred Stick stop of 2013 was proof of that! Almost a hundred kids came down to Mission Beach and Sun Diego Boardshop and set a great standard for the rest of the tour. Click 'Full Story' for details.

Through The Lens is the latest film project from Rob Machado. It's life - as only Rob sees it. This first installment features SF-based artist Jay Nelson, who specializes in high-qulaity and high-functioning tree houses and camper shells (check out some of his work, it's incredible). Jay and Rob talk DIY, connecting to art, beauty in the imperfections; they give Rob's van a killer facelift - and of course, go catch a few out front at Cardiff Reef. Stay tuned for more Through The Lens episodes coming this summer.
